BEAUTI-BARK:
Fir-Hemlock bark is
received from mills and resized by Sawdust Supply
Co., Inc. to provide
a selection of Beauti-Bark products. This supplies
the discriminating
landscaper a uniform product year after year.
FINE:
This Beauti-Bark is reground to produce a product that 50%
will pass through a
½” screen. As a mulch, it provides the best weed
control and moisture
retention.
MEDIUM-FINE:
Medium-fine Beauti-Bark contains fine bark also
has pieces up to 2”.
NUGGET: A course Beauti-Bark
that is screened to remove fines
and wood slivers. It is sized to be pieces ¾” and up.
Application: For good weed control it is recommended that
Beauti-Bark
is applied 2” to 3” deep. Thinner around plantings.

How to Apply Beauti-Gro

As a soil conditioner:
Loosen existing soil: spread Beauti-Gro
1" to 3" deep on the area to be planted: till or spade Beauti-Gro
into soil.

As a soil additive: for
planting individual shrubs and trees, mix 1\3 Beauti-Gro
with 2\3 existing soil.

As a Mulch: Spread
Beauti-Gro 1" to 2" deep. Application should
be thinner around the base of plants and shrubs.

Containers: Mix equal parts Beauti-Gro
with sandy garden soil for most applications.

PLAYCHIPS:
A product made up of
mainly cedar pulp chips, ranging from 1-1/4” to
1-1/2”
long by ¼” thick. Used for paths, dog runs, and around playground
equipment. They stay
clean and offer good drainage, as well as provides
a cushion for rough
and tumble playground activities. PLAYCHIPS are
sized to meet the
requirements of school districts.
Application:
Paths and dog runs 1” to 3” deep. In playgrounds and
around playground equipment 4” to 6” deep.

SAWDUST:
Sawdust is the small granular
chip wood that is produced in the manufacturing
of lumber. It can be used as a mulch to heal in plants and cover them
from
severe winter weather. Sawdust can be incorporated into clay soils to
loosen
it, and into sandy soils to provide moisture retention. Sawdust Supply
Co., Inc.
stocks both Fir-Hemlock and Alder sawdust.
Application: The mix ratio when using as a soil amendment
should not exceed
1/3 sawdust to 2/3 soil. When using sawdust as a soil amendment a high
nitrogen fertilizer should be added, as the decomposition of sawdust could
cause a nitrogen depletion.

STEERCO:
A cattle
manure, Fir-Hemlock sawdust mix, with nitrogen added to stimulate
growth. The materials are blended together, and then composted for up to
one year to provide breakdown of the wood fiber and to stabilize the
compost process.
Application: As a soil conditioner, loosen the existing
soil, spread 1” to 3”
of SteerCo, and then till or spade into the soil. As a mulch spread 1” to
3”
deep on flower beds. After several rain events or waterings, stir lightly
with
a rake to prevent crusting. As a mulch SteerCo provides a rich brown
color.
As a potting soil, mix 1/3 SteerCo with sandy garden soil.

GROCO:
An all natural soil
conditioner manufactured by blending sawdust with
Bio-solids
(A byproduct of waste water treatment plants). GroCo is blended
together and composted for over one year,
during this time temperatures
are recorded and the
material is turned several times. Before sale the material is
tested in compliance
with Federal Code Of Regulations 40CFR-Part 503 and
Washington State
Department Of Ecology Regulations. Which includes Pathogens,
Enteric viruses, and
heavy metals. GroCo contains many micro and macro nutrients
that northwest soils lack,
but are required for healthy growth of plants.
Application:
As a soil conditioner, loosen the existing soil, spread 1” to 3”
of GroCo, and then
till or spade into the soil. As a mulch spread 1” to 3”
deep on flower beds.
